The strap lines generally go down the side of the page; they don't tend to be blocked across the bottom. Look again at the examples you analysed and consider the conventions of strap lines. Again, try not to group the sections together - the puffs for example - how many are you going to have? How many are generally used? Again, check back to the examples you analysed. With reference to the contents page, they don't generally have puffs - don't overuse them. You may instead want to include images that relate to the featured articles.
